Sample Screen 1: Cox Communications Sitelet
This screen shows the Cox Communications "Supercharge" sitelet in the context of the page that contained it. Only the sitelet, bordered in blue, was my work.

Project Description:
Cox Communications asked us to create a marketing sitelet for its "Supercharge" campaign, which was aimed at AOL subscribers. The idea was to convince AOL dial-up subscribers to sign-up for Cox High Speed Internet and switch their AOL accounts to a "bring your own access" plan.
It was an unusual project for us because a print and broadcast campaign already existed, so we had to take our creative cues directly from the print advertising, and the audio from the broadcast advertising.
We built the sitelet as a hybrid of Flash and HTML, because I wanted to add dynamic behaviors to the main navigation and we thought it would be easier to accomplish with Flash than DHTML.
Only the sitelet was our work, the web page containing it is in the style of the Cox Communications website.
We were required to use the wild-eyed "emoticon" smiley face (Figure 1) from the print advertising. In the actual Flash movie, the emoticon smiley face bounces in place while the background streams past, suggesting speed, and the bloodshot eyes spin, suggesting, perhaps, dementia. Every so often, the emoticon zooms off the screen and then zooms back on. Also, the emoticon following the "Welcome" winks according to a random interval. I directed the developer to add these micro-embellishments as an easy way to introduce some visual dynamism and surprise, but also as a way to add some value to a campaign whose creative was already executed.
